Students admitted to a graduate program have already proven themselves capable of academic work. The undergraduate GPA is an indication of how well students performed prior to going to graduate school. Some students who excelled in their undergraduate program are surprised when they find that they are only average in graduate school, because they are now among other students who excelled. You may do best in a progam whose undergraduate GPA is similar to your own attainment in undergraduate school, or you may prefer a different category of students.
