Two generations ago, the slide rule and mechanical calculator were the tools for those who wanted to calculate the mathematics of business. More recently the tool was the hand-held calculator, and today it is the personal computer. Every accredited MBA program must expose its students to basic computer use, but some go far beyond this requirement. Today, the manager who is not computer literate is obsolete. As more faculty become proficient with computers for problem solving and analysis, schools are turning to computers as necessary tools for decision support. The degree to which computers are used in the curriculum depends somewhat on whether they are required for just a particular course, used in a number of courses, or integrated into almost all courses.
For ranking purposes, schools with high computer use are ranked highest.
