Welcome to the Official MBA Guide forum community!
To ensure that everything runs smoothly, please be aware of these rules and guidelines for posting. Things will go more smoothly for everyone if you are aware of the rules.

Reporting posts
One good way to help our staff is to report posts that you see are violating these rules. You can do this by clicking on the Report Button (http://officialmbaguide.org/forum/images/buttons/report.gif) that can be found in the user information box on each post. Clicking on this button will open a window in which you can submit notes on what you think the violation may be.

This report is entered into a system where our staff can see and review it, eliminating the need to contact us directly. Multiple reports on a specific post are appended to the first, so don't be concerned that someone else may have reported it already. The violator may receive an action ranging from a gentle warning to a ban from the forum.

Please report rule violations rather than respond to them, as responding may result in a violation of your own.

Types of infractions
Ignoring rules for the forum
Some forums have a set of rules just for that forum (for example, the feedback forum should be used only to discuss issues relating to the operation and functionality of this web site).

Incoherent English
The MBA degree is predominantly taught in English, and because your success in the business world depends much on your ability to communicate in writing, you are expected to write coherently so that others can read and understand what you write. Please avoid "chat speak" or anything that a reader must translate (for example, don't write "b4" rather than "before"). Occasionaly typographic or spelling errors are understood and expected, but please proofread your message before posting it. If you see a mistake afterwards, don't worry! You may edit any messages you post. An "Edit" button appears below each of your posts.

Use of profanity
Our filter censors some selected words (converting them to asterisks). Even so, some words have both a benign meaning and an offensive one depending on context. Use of profanity, whether or not it is filtered, is unacceptable.

Spam
Chain letters, get-rich-quick schemes, investment opportunities, links to unrelated web sites, and other advertisements of any sort are considered spam and not tolerated. Spamming is a banning offense. If you want a link to your site to appear on the Official MBA Guide please contact us to propose putting it on our resources links (http://officialmbaguide.org/resources.php) page. Advertisements to promote specific schools and MBA programs are permitted only if the school is already a member of the Official MBA Guide.

Educational institutions may post promotional messages in the forums provided that:

The institution is a member of the Official MBA Guide, and
The data for the school and MBA programs in the Official MBA Guide database is up-to-date.
Any promotional messages will be deleted if they originate from entities that are not member schools, or member schools who have obsolete data in our database.

Responding to spam
If you see spam (unsolicited advertising, whether relevant to the MBA degree or not), please report it. DO NOT respond to it in any way, which would only draw attention to it, furthering the spammer's goals and making it more difficult for us to correct the problem.

Posting oversized images
Please link to files larger than 400 pixels wide or larger than 300kb, rather than coding them into your post. Large images placed in signatures will be removed.

Posting copyrighted content
Posts containing copyrighted content will be edited to remove that content, or deleted entirely.

Double posting
Please avoid posting twice in a row. If you are responding to multiple points, please use quote tags and other formatting to clarify that you are doing so. Edit your posts to modify information in it rather than immediatly writing a new message. If you accidentally double-post, you can delete the extra post with the Edit option.

Flaming and trolling
Be civil. Don't use perjorative terms against another poster. And don't write posts with the intention of inciting angry responses, or attempt to disrupt threads into flame wars. Quoting a person and editing the quote to make the other user's words appear misleading is considered trolling.

Meta-subjects
Please restrict your discussion to MBA-related subjects. "Meta" subjects related to posting on this forum (such as user post counts, discussion on circumventing rules, etc.) aren't permitted, except in appropriate cases on the website feedback forum.

Questions and concerns
If you have questions about these rules, please visit the Feedback forum. You may find the question has already been addressed there; if not, please start a new thread.

Thanks, and enjoy your stay.
